Two dead, five injured after trains collide head-on near Bulgarian capital

Two freight trains have collided head-on near the railway station of Kremikovtsi in Bulgaria, resulting in two casualties. 

The accident, in which part of one train derailed, occured shortly before 16:00 not far from the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, Caliber.Az reports citing Bulgarian news. Two people have been reported dead with another five injured. 

According to the local media, a fire broke out following the collision of electric and diesel locomotives, one of which was said to be carrying metal scraps. Medical personnel, firefighters, and police are currently on the scene with train traffic having been suspended. One of the trains was en route from Bozhurishte to Burgas.
