Trump appoints Aaron Lukas as acting intelligence chief
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard will leave the administration on June 30 in order to support her husband, Abraham Gabbard, following his diagnosis with a rare form of bone cancer.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Gabbard’s work in the administration, saying she had done an “incredible job” and would be missed, Caliber.Az reports.
He expressed confidence that her husband would recover as the couple faces what he described as a “tough battle together.”
Trump also announced that Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence following Gabbard’s departure.
Gabbard, a former U.S. congresswoman and military veteran, has served as director of national intelligence during Trump’s current administration.
