Trump calls tariff his "favorite" word as it brings “trillions” to US
US President Donald Trump has called the word “tariff” his favorite in the dictionary.
“My favorite word is ‘tariff,’” Trump said during an economic speech in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, per New York Post.
Touting his accomplishments since his second term as president, Trump pointed to his tariff strategy, which he claimed was “bringing us hundreds of billions of dollars” as he brushed off criticism from naysayers.
“I’d say my favorite word is the word tariff. I love it more than any other word in the dictionary,” he said. “And the fake news said: ‘that’s terrible.'”
Back in February, Trump named “tariffs” his fourth favorite word. The top three, he said at the time, were “God,” “religion,” and “love.”
Trump also said that doctors are fighting to save the life of the wounded Afghan national who carried out a shooting in Washington, so that he can later be sentenced to death by the court.
“They are fighting to save his life so that we can give him the death penalty. The doctors have to do their job, and then the lawyers do theirs,” Trump said at the rally in Pennsylvania.
He added that the father of one of the wounded National Guard members also hopes the attacker survives so that he can face trial.
Two National Guard soldiers were wounded in the shooting carried out by a man from Afghanistan in Washington. Later, 20-year-old National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom died, while the life of her 24-year-old colleague remains in danger. The case is being investigated on charges of assault on a federal officer and terrorism. The U.S. Department of Justice has said it will seek the death penalty for the perpetrator.
