Trump claims Iran eager to return to negotiating table “They want to make a deal”

US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran has recently contacted Washington and is interested in reaching a new agreement.

“They want to make a deal, but they don't know how to make a deal, and then they go around shooting ships at night. I don't like that,” Trump told reporters during a media briefing broadcast on the White House’s YouTube channel.

On July 8, Trump announced the end of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran after Tehran allegedly attacked several vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States subsequently carried out strikes on the southern regions of Iran.

Military exchanges continued on July 9. Trump stated that the United States responds with 20 strikes for every Iranian strike.”Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later announced attacks on US military bases in retaliation.

Washington has also revoked a license allowing certain operations involving Iranian oil — one of the conditions reportedly included in the memorandum signed between the two sides — and has reinstated oil-related sanctions against Tehran.
