Trump claims Iran wants deal following strike on IRGC command
16 July 2026 09:11
US President Donald Trump has said Iran has expressed interest in holding talks with Washington and proposed a meeting with US officials, while claiming he previously authorised a strike targeting the leadership of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump said contacts between US and Iranian representatives remain ongoing. He did not provide further details about the proposed meeting or the status of the discussions.
Trump also said he had authorised a strike against the leadership of the IRGC, Iran's elite military force, adding that Tehran now "wants to make a deal."
