Trump confirms Netanyahu's upcoming Washington visit next week

US President Donald Trump said on July 24 that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit the United States next week.

Trump made the remarks during a speech at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, where he also falsely referred to US Senator Chuck Schumer as Palestinian, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

"I am going to send him [Schumer] a beautiful Palestinian outfit tomorrow, so he can greet Bibi Netanyahu when he comes to town next week," Trump said.

"He turned Palestinian," Trump said of Schumer, who is Jewish, while also joking that sharia law was Schumer's "new founding."

US Muslim and Jewish advocacy groups have previously criticised Trump for referring to Schumer, the top Senate Democrat, as Palestinian. Rights groups have said Trump uses the term disrespectfully as a slur and insult.

Netanyahu's office said earlier that the Israeli prime minister will travel to Washington on July 27 and meet with Trump on July 28. Netanyahu is also scheduled to attend the funeral of the late US Senator Lindsey Graham, according to his office.

The Trump-Netanyahu meeting will take place as the US-Israeli war on Iran enters its fifth month.
