Trump confirms rescue of injured F-15 crew member in Iran
The United States successfully rescued a severely wounded crew member of an F-15 fighter jet previously downed by Iranian air defenses, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social.
“We have rescued the seriously wounded, and really brave, F-15 Crew Member/Officer, from deep inside the mountains of Iran. The Iranian Military was looking hard, in big numbers, and getting close. He is a highly respected Colonel. This type of raid is seldom attempted because of the danger to “man and equipment,” Trump wrote.
According to Trump, the rescue was carried out during a second seven-hour operation over Iranian airspace.
He also announced a press briefing with military officials scheduled for April 6 at 13:00 in the Oval Office. The statement follows Iranian reports claiming that US forces’ attempt to recover the downed pilots had failed.
