Trump declares “golden age of America” during Independence Day speech
US President Donald Trump has declared the beginning of a “golden age of America” during his Independence Day address, saying the country is stronger, freer, richer and safer than ever before.
According to CNN, the speech lasted around 40 minutes and was delivered on the National Mall in Washington. Historic American flags were displayed on stage, which Trump showcased during his remarks.
“Today our country is winning again, and we’re winning like never before,” Trump said. This is only the dawn of the golden age of America, and on this 250th Fourth of July, we declare, just as they did two and a half centuries ago, that for our country, and for our children, and for the cause of liberty, we are going to take our country to new levels, to levels not reached. We’re going to make it bigger, better, stronger, and we’re going to love it even more,” he added.
The president also referred to a revival of the communist threat” stressing that they stand “no chance.”
The speech started later than scheduled due to bad weather. It was followed by a large-scale fireworks display lasting about 40 minutes, which CNN reported was more extensive than in previous years.
