Trump declares Venezuelan leader’s rule nearing its end
US President Donald Trump has stated that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s rule is nearing its end.
“His days are numbered,” Trump told POLITICO in an interview.
When asked whether a US ground invasion of Venezuela could be ruled out, Trump did not provide a definitive answer.
Media reports highlight that in recent months, the United States has significantly increased its military presence in the Caribbean. By mid-November, US troop numbers in the region reached 15,000, marking the largest American deployment there in several decades.
In addition, US forces have carried out over 20 operations in the Caribbean and the Pacific during this period, resulting in at least 87 deaths. No evidence has been presented linking these strikes to drug trafficking.
Maduro has accused the United States of using the deployments as part of a wider strategy to overthrow his government and gain control over Venezuela’s vast oil reserves.
