Trump deploys National Guard troops to Washington to bolster security

On August 11, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced the deployment of National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., aimed at strengthening security measures in the capital.

Speaking at a White House press conference, Trump stated that the city’s police force would be placed under direct federal control, Caliber.Az reports.

The President ordered the National Guard to restore law and order and maintain public safety in Washington.

The troops have been authorised to carry out their duties as required to address the escalating situation.

Earlier, Trump expressed concern that crime rates in the capital had spiralled out of control, highlighting a rise in attacks committed by minors who act without fear of repercussions.
