Trump: Iran will be “blown off the face of the Earth” if US hips attacked
U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face overwhelming consequences if it attacked American vessels near the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said that if Iran targets U.S. ships in the area, they will be “blown off the face of the earth.”
At the same time, he indicated that Tehran has shown some flexibility in ongoing talks, describing Iranian officials as “much more malleable” under the pressure of the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports.
Trump added that the United States is continuing to deploy additional troops and military equipment to the region.
“We have more weapons and ammunition at a much higher grade than we had before,” Trump says. “We have the best equipment. We have stuff all over the world. We have these bases all over the world. They’re all stocked up with equipment. We can use all of that stuff, and we will, if we need it.”
In a separate social media post, Trump said that Iran “has taken some shots at unrelated Nations,” including a South Korean cargo ship, but noted that no damage had been caused to any other vessels. He also said that Iran reportedly fired missiles at the United Arab Emirates earlier in the day.
“Perhaps it’s time for South Korea to come and join the mission!” Trump says, adding that the United States has destroyed seven Iranian fast boats.
