Trump: Massive US naval force moves toward Iran
A large US flotilla is moving toward Iran just in case, US President Donald Trump warned.
Addressing the press from Air Force One, Trump stated that he would prefer that nothing happens, but that the US is watching them very closely, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that the US has an armada and a huge fleet heading in that direction, and said that maybe it would not have to be used.
“We're watching Iran. You know, we have a lot of ships going that direction just in case. We have a big flotilla going in that direction. And we'll see what happens. Hopefully, we have a big force going toward Iran. I'd rather not see anything happen, but we're watching them very closely,” the American leader stressed.
Trump additionally emphasised that he had stopped 837 hangings on January 22, stating that those individuals would have been executed. He described the practice as reminiscent of a thousand years ago, calling it “an ancient culture.”
Earlier, Reuters reported that a US carrier strike group, including the USS Abraham Lincoln and several guided-missile destroyers, along with fighter jets and potentially additional air-defence systems, is expected to arrive in the Middle East in the coming days.
