Trump merchandise can now be paid for with personal cryptocurrency
Websites selling merchandise under the personal brand of US President Donald Trump have begun accepting the "TRUMP" meme coin as payment alongside convential cryptocurencies and credit cards.
These measures aim to promote the use of cryptocurrency for online purchases, Caliber.Az reports citing Western media outlets.
Stablecoins, whose value is pegged to traditional currency, remain the most popular for such transactions. In contrast, cryptocurrencies with highly volatile prices have struggled to gain traction as payment methods.
The TRUMP meme coin was launched on January 17 and was introduced by the president on his own social network, The Truth Social. The total supply is capped at 1 billion tokens, with only 200 million available initially.
Other online platforms, including the travel portal Travala.com, have also joined in.
At its peak, the coin’s market capitalization reached $15 billion, though it currently stands at around $5.5 billion.
