Trump mocks Greenland’s defence as “two dog sleds”
US President Donald Trump dismissed Greenland’s defences as “two dog sleds” while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.
Trump previously suggested that the United States would acquire Greenland by some means, Caliber.Az reports.
“Greenland, basically, their defence is two dog sleds. Do you know that? Do you know what their defence is? Two dog sleds,” he told journalists.
Trump claimed that Russian and Chinese destroyers and submarines are meanwhile positioned around the island.
Following a US operation in Venezuela, Trump reiterated that Greenland is vital for America’s national security.
Greenlandic and Danish authorities condemned his remarks as a direct threat to sovereignty, demanding that Washington cease such rhetoric and stressing that the idea of annexing the island is off the table.
