Trump motorcade diverted after US security service uncovers suspicious object

A suspicious object found during a security sweep at Palm Beach International Airport ahead of President Donald Trump’s departure from Mar-a-Lago in Florida on January 11 led the US Secret Service (USSS) to alter the presidential motorcade route, according to the White House.

Officials said the discovery did not interfere with Trump’s travel plans, as agents assessed the item and implemented security changes out of an abundance of caution, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

"During advance sweeps of PBI Airport, a suspicious object was discovered by USSS," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. "A further investigation was warranted and the presidential motorcade route was adjusted accordingly."

This latest security alert comes after a separate event months earlier, when the US Secret Service identified a suspicious hunting stand positioned with a direct line of sight to where Trump exits Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport.

The earlier discovery occurred in October 2025, when agents found the elevated stand but no one in the surrounding area.
