Trump nominates his son's fiancée as US ambassador to Greece

US President-elect Donald Trump has announced the nomination of his eldest son Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, as the next ambassador to Greece.

Trump made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that Guilfoyle has been a "close friend and associate for many years," Caliber.Az reports.

“Today, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Guilfoyle as the United States Ambassador to Greece. For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally. Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad.

Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation,” the post reads.

Upon hearing the nomination, Guilfoyle expressed her honor and excitement, stating she looked forward to "carrying out Trump's agenda, supporting our Greek allies, and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity."

“I’m honored to accept President Trump’s nomination to serve as the next Ambassador to Greece and I look forward to earning the support of the US Senate.

President Trump’s historic victory is bringing hope and optimism to the American people and to freedom-loving allies across the world.

It was the democratic values born in Greece that helped shape the founding of America.

And now, we have an opportunity to honor that history by bringing better days here at home and abroad. 

As ambassador, I look forward to delivering on the Trump agenda, supporting our Greek allies, and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity.” the post by Guilfoyle says.

Guilfoyle, 55, is a former prosecutor in San Francisco and a former Fox News host. She worked on the Republican Party's campaign during the 2018 election and became engaged to Trump Jr. in 2020.

Despite recent tabloid rumors about the couple’s alleged separation, it remains unclear whether Trump Jr. will accompany Guilfoyle to Greece if the Senate confirms her nomination.

Since his election, Trump has been actively shaping his administration, selecting key officials, including ambassadors and advisers. He recently announced his choice for Deputy Secretary of State, nominating Christopher Landau, the former US Ambassador to Mexico.
