Trump nominates security expert as US ambassador to Azerbaijan PHOTO

US President Donald Trump has nominated Alexander Alden, an American diplomat and international security expert, as the next United States ambassador to Azerbaijan.

During Trump’s first administration, Alden held positions at the State Department, the National Security Council, and the Pentagon, Caliber.Az reports, citing the White House press office.

"Alexander Alden, of Virginia, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Azerbaijan," the press office said.

He later served as a senior adviser at Palantir Technologies and was a research fellow at the Atlantic Council think tank.

He specialises in US foreign policy, defence, and transatlantic relations.
