Trump nominates lawyer John Cole as US special envoy to Belarus
US President Donald Trump has announced the nomination of lawyer John Cole for the position of U.S. Special Envoy to Belarus, according to a post on Truth Social.
“I am pleased to announce that John Coale, Esq., known as one of our Country’s truly GREAT lawyers, whose Victories included the first major Tobacco Case Win, is being nominated as the United States Special Envoy to Belarus,” Caliber.Az quotes Trump as saying on the social network Truth Social.
The president added that Cole has already successfully secured the release of 100 hostages and is actively working on the release of another 50 individuals.
"I would like to thank, in advance, the Highly Respected President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, for his consideration on the release of these additional people," he added.
John Cole is a highly regarded American attorney, best known for his landmark legal victories, including a major case against tobacco companies in the United States. Throughout his career, Cole has built a reputation for handling complex international and high-profile legal matters, often involving human rights, corporate accountability, and hostage negotiations.
