Trump offers to deploy troops to Maryland to Combat Crime
U.S. President Donald Trump has offered to send federal troops to Maryland to help combat crime, specifically in Baltimore.
“If Wes Moore needs help, just like [California Governor] Gavin Newsom did in Los Angeles, I will send in the ‘troops,’ as was already done in neighboring Washington, and quickly eliminate crime,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social page, addressing the governor of Maryland.
Trump stressed that Baltimore ranks fourth nationwide in terms of homicides.
Earlier, The Washington Post, citing sources, reported that the U.S. Department of Defense is planning to deploy several thousand troops to Chicago, Illinois, to help maintain law and order in the city. According to the newspaper, this model may later be applied in other major cities across the country.
