Trump posts image claiming role as Venezuela’s acting president PHOTO
US President Donald Trump has posted a message on social media suggesting that he is the acting president of Venezuela.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump shared a screenshot purporting to be from Wikipedia, which listed him as having assumed the role of acting president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in January 2026, Caliber.Az reports.
The image also identified him as the 47th president of the United States.
The post appeared to be tongue-in-cheek. There is no indication that Wikipedia has made such a change, and the screenshot does not reflect the platform’s current entries.
In reality, Venezuela’s presidency has been temporarily assumed by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who has been acting president since January 5, according to Venezuelan authorities.

On January 5, Delcy Rodríguez stepped in for her close ally, President Nicolás Maduro, after US officials said he was captured in a US military operation carried out overnight — a claim that has not been independently verified.
Rodríguez, who has served as vice president since 2018, was next in the constitutional line of succession and has played a central role in running Venezuela’s oil-dependent economy as well as overseeing its powerful intelligence apparatus.
She has publicly offered to “cooperate” with the administration of US President Donald Trump, a move that could signal a dramatic shift in relations between the long-hostile governments.
Rodríguez is part of a group of senior figures from Maduro’s inner circle who now appear to be exercising control in Caracas, even as Washington says it will intensify pressure to force Venezuela’s leadership to align with US demands over the oil-rich country’s future.
