Trump posts Kim Jong Un photo following talk of new contact

US President Donald Trump posted a photo of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on his Truth Social account following his statement about their talks.

The photo shows the North Korean leader surrounded by officials while speaking on the phone, Caliber.Az reports.

“Hey, Donald, we cool... right?” the caption above the photo reads.

This lighthearted post comes amid Trump’s recent decision to scale back major US-South Korea military exercises.

On August 17, Trump announced on Truth Social that he had instructed Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth to “substantially reduce” the annual Ulchi Freedom Shield joint drills, which are scheduled to run through August 27, describing the exercises as costly and saying they send an “inappropriate and hostile” signal to North Korea.

He specifically cited his “very good relationship” with Kim Jong Un and stated that North Korea has been “unthreatening and respectful” during his presidency, while also noting South Korea’s refusal to join efforts related to Iran.

South Korean officials confirmed the exercises started as planned but said they are reviewing the remarks and coordinating closely with Washington.
