Trump renews call for Canada to become US state
President Donald Trump has once again suggested that Canada should become part of the US.
Addressing senior military leaders at Quantico, a Marine Corps base near Washington, DC, Trump told the officers that Canadian officials called him a few weeks ago, asking to be part of the “Golden Dome” missile defence system that his administration is building, Caliber.Az reports per the broadcast.
“I said, ‘Well, why don’t you just join our country? You become the 51st state, and you get it for free.’ So, I don’t know if that made a big impact, but it does make a lot of sense,” he said.
Trump added that Canada is having a “hard time” due to US tariffs.
Back in March the US president has said that Canada can avoid higher taxes if they join the United States of America and become its 51st state.
