Trump reports “very good” conversation with Venezuela’s acting president

U.S. President Donald Trump has reported holding a phone conversation with Delcy Rodríguez, who is currently serving as Venezuela’s acting president.

As noted by Caliber.Az, Trump disclosed the call in a post on his Truth Social account.

“This morning I had a very good call with the Interim President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez. We are making tremendous progress, as we help Venezuela stabilize and recover. Many topics were discussed, including Oil, Minerals, Trade and, of course, National Security. This partnership between the United States of America and Venezuela will be a spectacular one FOR ALL. Venezuela will soon be great and prosperous again, perhaps more so than ever before!” he wrote.

Trump’s statement comes in the wake of the January 3, 2026, U.S. military operation in Caracas, during which President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were detained and transferred to the United States to face federal charges, including narcoterrorism, drug trafficking, and weapons offences.

Maduro entered a not guilty plea in a New York court during hearings held on January 5–6.

Since the raid, interim governance under Delcy Rodríguez — formerly vice president and now acting president — has engaged with Washington amid ongoing U.S. pressure, including a maritime blockade on Venezuelan oil exports that was imposed in mid-December 2025.
