Trump salutes Pashinyan after ruling party’s election success
US President Donald Trump has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his party’s victory in the country’s parliamentary elections.
“Congratulations to Nikol Pashinyan for his decisive victory in Armenia’s National Elections. I was very proud to have Endorsed him for Re-Election, and have no doubt that, with him as the Leader of the beautiful Country of Armenia, it will attain levels of Greatness and Success beyond everyone’s wildest expectations!” the US president wrote on the Truth Social platform.
Armenia’s parliamentary elections were held on June 7, with preliminary results from all 2,005 polling stations indicating that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party secured first place with 49.825% of the vote.
The Strong Armenia bloc, led by businessman Samvel Karapetyan, came second with 23.281%, while former President Robert Kocharyan’s Armenia Alliance received 9.934%.
The Prosperous Armenia party, headed by businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, garnered 3.996% of the vote, falling short of the threshold required to enter parliament. Voter turnout stood at 58.97%.
Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission is scheduled to announce the final official results of the parliamentary elections on June 14.
