Trump says agreement reached to disarm Hamas in Gaza

31 July 2026 09:31

On July 31, U.S. President Donald Trump said that a "historic agreement" had been reached for the "complete disarmament" of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza, describing it as a key step toward ending the conflict and reshaping governance in the Palestinian enclave.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the agreement would pave the way for Gaza to be governed by "a new Palestinian government" that would work with what he called the "Board of Peace," while addressing Israel's security concerns.

"Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza," Trump wrote. "This is a monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY."

Trump said the agreement would be implemented in "carefully structured phases," adding that as disarmament is completed, Israeli forces would withdraw and an International Stabilization Force would work alongside a new Palestinian police force to maintain security in Gaza.

He described the deal as "a major milestone in the implementation of the Trump 20-Point Plan" and said it would ensure that "Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that serves its PEOPLE."
