Trump says Hamas clearing Gaza of violent gangs

US President Donald Trump has partially defended the actions of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, suggesting the group is targeting violent gangs rather than carrying out indiscriminate killings.

In a telephone interview with Jake Tapper, the CNN host asked President Trump about images showing Hamas shooting Palestinians in the streets, Caliber.Az reports.

He said that Hamas is “going in and clearing out the gangs, violent gangs.”

When asked whether it was possible that Hamas was executing innocent Palestinians, the president replied, “I'm doing research on it. We'll find out about it. It could be gangs.”
