Trump says he will ask Netanyahu to avoid striking back at Iran

US President Donald Trump said he intends to contact Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urge him not to carry out retaliatory strikes against Iran.

"I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate. Each of them had their fun. Israel had its strike, and Iran had its strike. We don't need another one," Trump told an Axios journalist.

Trump also expressed hope that the escalation between Israel and Iran would not derail a potential deal between Tehran and Washington.
