Trump says Iran’s mixed signals driven by domestic politics

US President Donald Trump has said that Iran’s contradictory messaging regarding a potential agreement is driven by internal political considerations.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump argued that Tehran is forced to balance its external diplomatic position with domestic expectations.

“They have to say something different because they have people they have to cater to. I’m just saying it like it is,” Trump said.

He reiterated that his administration’s primary objective remains to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
