Trump says Iran will buy food exclusively from United States
US President Donald Trump has stated that, following talks between Washington and Tehran in Switzerland, unfrozen Iranian financial assets could be used to purchase food exclusively through the United States.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on June 22, Trump said the released funds would be directed toward food purchases and that all supplies would be sourced exclusively through the United States from American farmers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Reuters.
“All that money's coming back in the form of purchases of food which they desperately need. They have 91 million people, they can't feed them. So, the money that we lift is going to go to our farmers,” he noted.
He added that the funds would be used to buy soybeans, corn, and other agricultural products.
