Trump says "large military complex" under construction at White House

US President Donald Trump has said that construction work at the White House includes a “big military complex” with some elements he claimed he could not publicly discuss.

Speaking to supporters in Las Vegas, Trump said the project involved “a lot of different things” and suggested that details had become public despite his efforts to keep some aspects undisclosed.

“You know, last week I’m building this big military complex, including a lot of different things, and some of the things I can’t even talk about, although it’s become very public because, like usual, everything I do they get sued, but I win the suits,” Trump said.

He added that the White House had lacked a large ballroom for more than a century and that the construction would address the shortage of space for major events.

“For 150 years at the White House, we don’t have a ballroom. We don’t have a big space. You can seat like 80, 90 people. So we’re building a ballroom that everybody — it’s going to be the most beautiful ball,” Trump said.
