Trump says US "captured" Venezuelan president Maduro
US President Donald Trump says the US has carried out "large scale strike against Venezuela" and "captured its leader, President Nicolas Maduro" and his wife.
In the post on Truth Social, Trump said the operation was conducted in “coordination with US law enforcement” and that Maduro and his wife had been taken out of the country, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that further details would be released later and announced a news conference scheduled for 11 a.m. (ET) at Mar-a-Lago.
Venezuela’s authoritarian government has accused the US of risking plunging Latin America into chaos with “an extremely serious” act of “imperial aggression” after Donald Trump ordered strikes against the South American country.
Trump has repeatedly warned that the US is preparing to take new action against alleged drug trafficking networks in Venezuela.
