Trump says US planned operation against Iranian general with Israel
US President Donald Trump has said that the United States planned an operation to kill the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, General Qasem Soleimani, together with Israel.
At a press conference following his participation in the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, Trump said if he had not killed General Soleimani, they probably would not be talking right now about the deal, Caliber.Az reports.
“Because he was a mad genius. When I hit Soleimani, people thought it was the biggest thing happened in the Middle East for fifty years. That was the biggest event. He was the boss of Iran and respected. The father on the roadside bomb. <…> I blew him up in the valley of death,” he noted.
According to him, it was a joint venture between Israel and the US, and they prepared for a month.
Soleimani was killed on January 3, 2020, in a US airstrike near Baghdad International Airport. In response, Iran launched missile strikes on January 8, 2020, targeting two sites in Iraq used by US forces.
