Trump shares video hinting at “eternal presidency”

US President Donald Trump has posted a provocative video on his social media platform, Truth Social, suggesting a presidency without end.

The video, styled as a mock Time magazine cover, begins with the cover of the magazine’s 2018 issue that speculated on Trump’s political longevity. A series of plaques appear beneath the cover, each engraved with years marking Trump’s hypothetical terms in office, starting with 2024 and stretching to 2044, Caliber.Az reports.

The video crescendos as the date markings begin to accelerate, eventually abandoning numerical years altogether and landing on the word “4eva” — implying a presidency that continues indefinitely.

Accompanying the visuals is a tense orchestral score — the climactic segment of Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King — adding a theatrical and slightly ominous tone to the video.

This same video has already been shared by Trump during his first term in office. The video was posted minutes after the Senate vote to acquit him on February, 2020. He has also circulated the edited video back in 2019. 

"The animation you shared is a manipulated version of the Oct. 22, 2018, cover of TIME. Here's the real one," TIME magazine commented when Trump first published the edited video, attaching a video with the "How Trumpism outlasts Trump" headline.
