Trump sounds alarm over China’s AI ambitions, calls for US dominance

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington must maintain its lead over China in artificial intelligence (AI) and cryptocurrency, arguing that dominance in emerging technologies could provide a major economic and strategic advantage.

Trump said the United States is currently ahead of China in AI and should ensure Beijing does not overtake it, according to Clash Report.

“We don't want to see China take over crypto. I don't want to see China win with AI. AI and crypto.

Crypto is a big deal. I mean I see it more and more where people are paying with Bitcoin and you know they don't even know about cash anymore. That takes a lot of pressure off our dollar. It's a good thing for our country.

But if China took over crypto, which they would love to do, or if China took over AI, which they would really... So, we are leading with AI on China. Nobody thought that was possible,” Trump said.

According to Trump, the country that wins the AI race will gain a significant advantage, while the expansion of AI and data centres could become one of the largest drivers of economic growth.

Trump also opposed potential restrictions on data-centre construction in Texas, arguing that the industry could eventually surpass the oil sector in scale.

Turning to US domestic politics, Trump warned that a Democratic victory could make him the “last Republican president.”

Trump said that if he did not run for election, he was uncertain whether his supporters would turn out to vote, noting that many of them were angry with the Republican Party but not with him. He warned that a Democratic victory could make him the “last Republican president” and suggested that Republicans in the Senate needed to take action to prevent such an outcome.

Trump also criticized the US trade deficit with Switzerland, which he estimated at between $39 billion and $41 billion, and suggested Washington could impose restrictions on Swiss imports.

Trump also addressed the situation surrounding Iran, saying Tehran is interested in reaching an agreement and does not want to face further US strikes.
