Trump targets Biden’s autopen signatures, warns of perjury charges

29 November 2025 11:34

In a fiery post on social media, President Donald Trump announced that he intends to nullify every document his successor, Joe Biden, signed using an autopen, and warned that Biden could face perjury charges if he falsely claimed to have personally signed them.

On Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Any document signed by Sleepy Joe Biden with the Autopen, which was approximately 92% of them, is hereby terminated and of no further force or effect. The Autopen is not allowed to be used if approval is not specifically given by the President of the United States.”

He continued: “I am hereby cancelling all Executive Orders, and anything else that was not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden, because the people who operated the Autopen did so illegally. Joe Biden was not involved in the Autopen process, and if he says he was, he will be brought up on charges of perjury.”

Biden’s use of an autopen has long been a point of criticism among Republicans. Party officials have claimed that Biden’s staff used the device to sign executive orders and legislation while the president, then 82 years old, allegedly lacked the cognitive ability to do so. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has suggested—without evidence—that Biden’s “cognitive decline” meant he was unaware of certain pardons he signed.

The Trump White House has previously displayed a portrait of an autopen in place of Biden’s image on its presidential “Wall of Fame.”

Trump also claimed that “Radical Left Lunatics” stole the presidency from Biden, arguing that any documents signed during his term are therefore invalid.

Questions remain about how a Trump administration would determine which documents were signed via autopen, and how such a policy could affect legislation, executive orders, and presidential pardons.

Observers also noted that it could raise concerns about the validity of documents Trump himself signed with an autopen; the 79-year-old former president has previously shown signs of declining health, which he has vigorously denied.
