Trump team prepares for potential peace talks with Iran — Axios
The team of U.S. President Donald Trump has begun internal discussions on what a potential peace negotiation with Iran might look like, Axios reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The talks involve President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. One U.S. official told journalists that Iran could be open to dialogue.
According to Axios, any prospective agreement would likely include the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a resolution on Iran’s stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, and long-term arrangements regarding its nuclear program, ballistic missiles, and support for allied forces in the region.
For the record, while the discussions are preliminary, they signal a possible shift in U.S. policy towards Tehran, aiming to address both regional security concerns and nuclear nonproliferation.
