Trump: "They’re going to impeach me"

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned supporters that Democrats could seek to impeach him if Republicans lose control of Congress in the November 2026 midterm elections.

Speaking at a rally in South Carolina on August 21, Trump urged Republicans to turn out for the midterms while campaigning for Sen. Lindsey Graham ahead of next week’s primary runoff, The Hill reports. 

“I’m going to be impeached. They’re going to impeach me. They have no idea why,” Trump said.

The November 3 elections will determine all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and roughly one-third of the 100-member Senate. The vote will take place halfway through Trump’s presidential term and could determine whether Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress.

Trump has previously faced impeachment twice, during his first presidential term.
