Trump threatens Iran: "A whole civilization will die tonight"
US President Trump has threatened that "a whole civilization will die tonight" if a deal with Iran is not reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened by his deadline at 8 p.m. ET later on April 7.
“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, Caliber.Az reports.
The comments come ahead of a deadline set by Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. ET, which he has linked to threats of striking the country’s power plants and bridges. International humanitarian law experts and officials have warned that such threats against civilian infrastructure could constitute war crimes.
Even before the deadline, Iranian officials reported an intense wave of strikes on bridges across the country and on Kharg Island, Iran’s key oil export hub. The U.S. military said it had targeted dozens of military installations on the island overnight.
