Trump threatens legal action over anonymous sources in media reports
US President Donald Trump has threatened legal action against media outlets and publishers that cite anonymous sources in their reports about him.
“As a President who is being given credit for having the Best Opening Month of any President in history, quite naturally, here come the Fake books and stories with the so-called 'anonymous,' or 'off the record,' quotes. At some point I am going to sue some of these dishonest authors and book publishers, or even media in general, to find out whether or not these 'anonymous sources' even exist, which they largely do not. They are made up, defamatory fiction, and a big price should be paid for this blatant dishonesty. I’ll do it as a service to our Country. Who knows, maybe we will create some NICE NEW LAW!!! Caliber.Az reports, citing the US leader’s message in Truth Social.
The president’s comments come as part of his ongoing battle with the press, where he has repeatedly criticized media outlets for publishing stories based on unnamed sources. Trump argues that anonymous reporting is often used to spread misinformation and damage his reputation.
In a statement released via social media, Trump made it clear that he would not tolerate such practices. This latest threat is not the first time Trump has clashed with the media over the issue of anonymous sourcing. Throughout his presidency, he has frequently labeled critical reports as “fake news” and accused journalists of biased reporting.
