Trump to hold first Board of Peace meeting this month

U.S. President Donald Trump will hold the first meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace on February 19 at 10:00 a.m. Washington time, the White House announced.

The meeting is expected to discuss the implementation of the second phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement as well as mechanisms for fundraising to rebuild the Gaza Strip, Caliber.Az cites the White House website.

The Board of Peace is a new international body initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump as part of his plan to manage the post‑war transition in the Gaza Strip and to promote stability in conflict‑affected areas. It was formally established in January 2026 during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The board’s creation is linked to a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas and was backed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 2803, which authorised the board to assist with Gaza’s reconstruction, transitional governance, and humanitarian coordination. Its mandate is geographically limited to the Gaza Strip and is meant to last until the end of 2027.

President Trump serves as the board’s chairman, with significant authority over its decisions and member invitations. The board’s charter describes its mission broadly as promoting stability, restoring lawful governance, and securing lasting peace in regions affected by conflict.

The organisation has drawn both support and criticism. Some countries, including the United Arab Emirates and others, have agreed to join and support its work on Gaza. However, several Western allies have declined to participate, citing concerns that it might undermine existing international institutions like the United Nations or overstate U.S. influence.
