Trump urges Putin to "stop shooting", finalise peace deal
US President Donald Trump has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt missile attacks and finalise a peace agreement, expressing frustration over ongoing violence amid diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters as he departed New Jersey, Trump reacted to Russia’s recent missile strike on Kyiv, saying he could not yet determine whether Putin was serious about ending the conflict, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“I think the meeting went well. We’ll see what happens over the next few days. We’ll probably learn a lot. I was very disappointed that missiles were flying by Russia,” Trump said.
Trump emphasised that Putin must show a genuine commitment to peace.
“I want him to stop shooting, sit down and sign a deal,” Trump said. “We have the confines of a deal, I believe, and I want him to sign it and be done with it and just go back to life.”
