Trump urges UK to expand oil drilling in North Sea, calls it nation’s “greatest treasure”

US President Donald Trump has publicly called on the British government to increase its investment in oil production in the North Sea, describing the vast offshore reserves as the United Kingdom’s “greatest treasure.”

The statement was made via Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he emphasized the strategic importance of the North Sea’s energy resources, Caliber.Az reports.

“North Sea oil is a treasure chest for the United Kingdom. The taxes are so high, however, that it makes no sense. They have essentially told drillers and oil companies that, 'we don’t want you.' Incentivize the drillers, fast. A vast fortune to be made for the UK, and far lower energy costs for the people!" the post by US president reads.
