Trump warns Iran of retaliation for deaths of US troops

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington will respond forcefully if American service members are killed in attacks carried out by Iran.

“Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The US president added that he had issued the necessary instructions to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and the US military command regarding such situations.

Trump’s statement comes against the backdrop of recent Iranian strikes that have claimed American lives. Two US service members were killed in ballistic missile and drone attacks on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, with one additional service member reported missing. 

These incidents contributed to the rising toll in the ongoing conflict, bringing the total number of US military personnel killed to 17.
