Trump warns negotiations would end if Iran seeks Hormuz shipping fees

24 June 2026 16:31

U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran had told Washington it was not seeking tolls, insurance fees or any other charges from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, warning that negotiations would end immediately if that proved untrue.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran had informed the United States that there were “NO TOLLS, NO INSURANCE COSTS, & NO OTHER CHARGES OF ANY KIND BEING SOUGHT OR RECEIVED BY IRAN ON SHIPS TRAVELING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ," Caliber.Az reports.

“If this is false information, negotiations would end, immediately!” Trump wrote.

He also said the United States had not transferred any money to Iran or released Iranian funds directly to Tehran.

“Additionally, no money has been given to Iran, or released from their money to them, by the U.S.,” Trump said.

Trump added that Washington planned to use Iranian funds under U.S. control to purchase food from American farmers and ranchers for Iran.

“We will be releasing some of their money, that is totally controlled by us, to our Farmers and Ranchers, for the purchase of Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, and more. Food is desperately needed in Iran, and we will be purchasing it for them exclusively from the United States,” he said.
