Turkish Airlines carried 6.3 million passengers in May

Turkish Airlines announced the passenger and cargo traffic results for May, TRT Haber informs.

Accordingly, the company carried 6.3 million passengers in May, exceeding the 80 percent load factor. Despite the fact that some countries maintain travel restrictions, THY increased the seat capacity it offers to its guests by 12.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019, due to the increasing demand.

According to the "May 2022 Traffic Results Evaluation", the international load factor of THY, which carries a total of 6.3 million passengers, was 79.5 percent and the domestic load factor was 83.7 percent.

24 million passengers transported in 5 months

The number of passengers carried in the January-May period was 24 million. The total passenger load factor was 73.5 percent in the January-May period. While the international load factor was 72.5 percent, the domestic load factor was 82.8 percent.

While the Total Seats Supplied km (AKK) was 72.7 billion in 2019 in the January-May period, it became 71.8 billion in 2022. By the end of May, the number of aircraft in the fleet was 376.

Cargo transportation is also on the rise

The volume of cargo and mail carried by THY in May increased by 11.3 percent compared to the same period of 2019 and reached 144 thousand tons. In the January-May period, the total cargo and mail transported increased by 13.4% compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 673 thousand tons.

THY General Manager Bilal Ekşi, who gave his views on the May figures of the company in the statement , said:
