Turkish Cyprus announces launch of indirect flights from Moscow
Airlines will start indirect flights from Moscow to the Turkish north of Cyprus starting from March next year.
This was announced by the Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the leader of the Turkish Cypriot Renaissance Party Erhan Arikly, TASS reports.
"In the new season, two airlines will launch the Moscow-Antalya-Ercan routes," he said, adding that "these two companies will start flights in March." The chief curator of the Turkish Cypriot transport sector did not mention the nationality of the mentioned air carriers, but said that they "registered in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" with the right to land in northern Cyprus.
At the same time, Arykly made it clear that he was in favor of the Turkish Cypriot side becoming a partner of these airlines. “We [in that case] will have the right to vote,” he explained. The head of the department also considers it necessary to create its own airline in the north of Cyprus.
