Turkish experts calls for inquiry into Russian airports' refusal to let AZAL plane land VIDEO
Now that Russian President Vladimir Putin has apologized, it is necessary to clarify how the plane crash occurred.
Turkish political expert Oguzhan Bilgin called upon this action during a broadcast on the Haber Global television channel, as Caliber.Az reports.
According to Bilgin, the Russian claim of the Azerbaijani Airlines plane having collided with a flock of birds after which an oxygen cylinder exploded onboard is meant to conceal the facts behind the incident.
“[...] Therefore, following the apology by Russian President Vladimir Putin given during a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, it is essential to clarify how the plane crash happened. The results of the investigation must be disclosed, including why the plane was not granted permission to land at nearby Russian airports after the pilots sent out a distress signal,” the expert urged.
As Caliber.Az recalls, an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines en route from Baku to Grozny crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on December 25 when attempting to land. Miraciously 29 people survived the tragedy, while 38 out of the 67 on board, including 3 members of the crew, were killed.
