Turkish FM backs Azerbaijan–Armenia peace efforts
Türkiye has said that the political commitment shown by Azerbaijan and Armenia in their ongoing peace process is a key factor for ensuring long-term stability in the South Caucasus.
Speaking at a press conference following the 10th trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed Ankara’s support for the normalisation process between Baku and Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Fidan said Türkiye views the developing peace process as a positive step toward regional stability and economic integration, noting that Ankara continues to back efforts aimed at resolving long-standing disputes between the two countries.
He stressed that as peace in the South Caucasus strengthens, interstate cooperation and connectivity in the region will also expand.
“In today’s talks, we reaffirmed that stability, peace, and prosperity in the South Caucasus must be built on the basis of sincere and constructive cooperation,” Fidan said. “The region should be associated not with conflicts, but with projects of development, prosperity, and interconnectedness, and we are working precisely in this direction.”
He noted that the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia offers hope for achieving lasting stability and transforming the region into a hub of economic cooperation and development.
He also added that strengthening ties among Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia is a strategic and political priority in the region.
"Today, the foreign ministers of the three countries discussed the situation in the region. At a time when conflicts are taking place in different parts of the world, the atmosphere of peace and cooperation established by the three countries carries real strategic value," he said.
Fidan noted that the next goal is to build a more integrated region in terms of energy, transport and connectivity.
