Turkish hotels stop accepting payments via Russian "Mir" system
Representatives of two Turkish hotel chains told the Russian tourism portal TourDom editors about the refusal to accept Russian "Mir" cards.
The Crystal Hotels and Nirvana Hotels chains said that on the morning of September 14 they received the following mailing from their central office: “Dear colleagues, I inform you that Mir cards are no longer accepted in our hotels. This is due to the introduction of this rule by the Central Bank of Türkiye.”
“We work with VakifBank,” said Irina Kazakova, representative of the hotel chain. “But this instruction applies to all banks in Turkey.”
The information was confirmed by the Titanic hotel chain: “Due to the threat of sanctions, the banks we work with have abandoned this payment system. We cannot say when they will start working again. The question is not for us, but rather for the banks.”
The representative of the chain clarified that payments using Mir cards are no longer carried out by Ziraat Bankasi, Is Bank, and Credit Europe Bank.
At the same time, other Turkish hotels responded to a request from the TourDom editors that they had not yet introduced any restrictions on the acceptance of Russian plastic for guests.
Meanwhile, the website of the Russian payment system "Mir" still has information about accepting a card for withdrawing cash and paying for purchases in Ziraat, Vakif, Deniz and other Turkish banks.
