Turkish lawyers urge ICC to issue arrest warrants for Israeli top officials

A group of Turkish lawyers has officially requested the ICC to arrest several high-ranking Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"We have just applied to the ICC against the Israeli Defence Minister, the War Cabinet, the Chief of General Staff, the Air Force Commander, the Commander of the Southern Region and requested a warrant for their arrest, as well as against Netanyahu," one of the initiators of the lawsuit, lawyer Burak Bekiroğlu, told TASS.

The petition submitted by lawyers stated that Netanyahu, whose trial is requested, “has committed crimes such as war, genocide and a crime against humanity in full view of the world."

Numerous criminal complaints have also been filed by Turkish citizens against Netanyahu and Israeli officials since the early days of Israel’s war against the Palestinian group Hamas, and the petitions have been sent to the Justice Ministry for further action.
